‘Clay Play with Glass Powders’, a Pate de Verre Technique

February 10, 2009

Clay-Play-Pate-de-Verre Class

Upcoming class at the Las Vegas Glass Craft & Bead Expo:

Learn how to mix powdered glass into a clay-like paste, then sculpt it into a variety of small forms that can be used for jewelry, magnets, or architectural applications.   We start with powder wafers to heat things up, then using a non-toxic binder discover the secrets of a very unique method.  Applying modified polymer clay techniques we can achieve  results that in the past were only relevant to clay or could only be achieved using molds.   We’ll also make small paste pattern bars with intricate detail, that can be used as cabochons, buttons, beads or components in other projects.  From this class, you’ll take home a finished small sculpture and as many paste pattern bar projects as one day allows.
